Its time to start planning on some renovations

After surviving our first winter in the new country house,

Im really looking forward to spring, sunshine and enjoying the outdoor spaces of Turkey Manor in Rhinebeck New York.

Yes, we have given that pretentious name to our little place in the country because that's just the type of people we are. Two gay men from New York City who have worked so hard over the past 15 years to have this life.

And this is our reward. Unlike other rewards that go on a mantle or a wall somewhere, this one is a constant give and take.

Sometimes it feels like it just takes our money but then it gives us a place to escape from the vicissitudes of Manhattan and reenergizes us to take on new challenges. No, really.

We have made the inside very comfortable and have enjoyed the space with family and friends for weekends and holidays these past months. But the time has come to do work on the exterior. This will be a whole new experience for us as we have never really had our own outdoor space before.

I already have so many ideas about knocking things down and having things built, but I tend to lean to the outrageous. So I will need my Sweetie to add some balance. But I think Im going to take a lot of pictures of the different spaces I would like to see something done and map out my dream plan. I also found a company called The Phantom Gardener here in Rhinebeck that will do a site analysis for only $150 that could be a helpful way to get more informed about what to do with the space. Will share that experience after I get them out here.
